e.l.f brightening eye colour inspired look 3

A series of looks using the E.L.F. Brightening Eye Colour Quads:
3. Ivy
www.eyeslipsface.co.uk

I was really inspired by the name of this quad.  I immediately thought of Poison Ivy from Batman.
With Superheroes in mind, I decided to create a mask, one which only covers they eyes and incorporates leaves, this is what I came up with during my makeup play:

To create this bit of fun you will need:

The e.l.f. brightening eye colour quad in Ivy
The e.l.f. brightening eye colour quad in Ivy
A primer; I used e.l.f. Mineral Eyeshadow Primer
A waxy pencil as a colour base; I used NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencil in Horse Raddish (not pictured)
Brushes; I used e.l.f. Studio Eyeshadow C Brush, e.l.f. Studio Small Angled Brush, e.l.f. Studio Small Precision Brush
A Mascara; I used e.l.f. Mineral Infused Mascara

Step 1. Prime eye lid, under eye and cheek
Step 2. Cover Lid and under eye with the colour base of your choice
Step 3. Draw the outline of 3 leaves, one on top of the other and fill in with the colour base
Step 4. Place the lightest green eyeshadow over the colour base using a flat eyeshadow brush to pack on the colour
Step 5. Line the eyes with the darkest brown shade.
Step 6. Create a long and extended wing using the darkest green shade and an angled brush. Use this as the steam of the first leaf.
Step 7. Using the same colour and brush create veins leading off from the main stem.
Step 8. From the middle of the lower lash line, extend another line down and across the center of the second/middle leaf.
Step 9. Again draw veins leading off from this central stem.
Step 10. From the inner corner of the lower lash line, run another line across and down the center of the 3rd/bottom leaf shape you have drawn remembering to give it veins as well.
Step 11. Accent the main stem of each leaf with the brown you used to line your eyes.
Step 12. Over the lid the colour base and palest green shadow should be a little way up and over the crease.
Step 13. From the inner corner, curving along the natural shape of your lid (see pictures) create a line, again using the darkest green and an angled brush.
Step 14. Create another line starting from the middle of your upper lash line curving in the opposite direction.
Step 15. Draw tiny veins off of these lines (this is very fiddly, take your time, try not to make these lines too thick)
Step 16. Apply Mascara

 Ta daaaaaaaa!

eyeslipsface Brightening Eye Colour Inspired Look 2

A series of looks using the E.L.F. Brightening Eye Colour Quads:
2. Brownstone
http://www.eyeslipsface.co.uk

Products used:
  • E.L.F. All Over Color Stick in Spotlight
  • E.L.F. Brightening Eye Colour Quad in Quad in Brownstone
  • E.L.F. Studio Eye Shadow C Brush
  • E.L.F. Studio Contour Brush
  • E.L.F. Shimmer Eyeliner Pencil in Gunmetal
  • E.L.F. Studio Small Angled Brush
  • E.L.F. Brightening Eye Liner in Gilded
  • E.L.F. Mineral Infused Mascara

Step 1: Use your fingers to apply the All Over Colour Stick in Spotlight as a Primer
Step 2: Pat the flesh toned shadow all over the lid using the Studio Eye shadow C Brush (be careful this shadow is very powdery and gets everywhere)
Step 3: Blend the brown shadow into the crease using the Studio Contour Brush
Step 4: Use darker brown shadow (colour number 3 in the quad) to intensify the 1st colour (be careful it is far too easy to buff these colours away)
Step 5: Line your eyes with the Shimmer Eyeliner Pencil in Gunmetal
Step 6: Set the pencil liner with the flesh toned shadow using the Studio Small Angled Brush
Step 7: Line the lower lash line with the Brightening Eye Liner in Gilded and set again with the flesh toned colour using the Studio Small Angled Brush
Step 8: Apply Mascara

I would not recommend this quad, the quality of the shadows is far too powdery, this look lasted barely an hour on me

This dinky little kit comes with:
1 Cream eyeshadow
9 eye shadows
1 clear glitter lip gloss
9 lipsticks
1 eye liner pencil in black

1 bronzer
1 eyebrow powder

To create this look you will also need:
An eye primer (I used Urban Decay Primer Potion)

A black mascara (I used Revlon Luxurious Lengths Mascara)

Step 2: Put a very thin layer of the cream eye shadow on all over the lid and up to the brow bone and a little along the lower lash line

Step 5: Place the darker green shadow on to the outer corner

Step 6. Intensify the yellow on the inner corner
Step 6: Blend out any harsh lines using a white shadow on the brow bone
Step 7: Place the lightest brown (situated bottom right in the palette) on to the lower lash line
Step 8: Line the upper lash line with a brown liquid liner (I would have used the black eyeliner pencil provided but it was too scratchy)
Step 9: Add your favourite black mascara
Step 10: There is no step 10, you are finished my friend :-)

I hope you liked this look

Where have I been? + Book Review

Blogging fail.
Many apologies for not blogging regularly enough.  I would say I have been busy but that would be a lie.  Without a job days seem to merge together and then the next time you look at a calender a whole week could have flown by without me even noticing.

Still I like to think I made the most out of my time bumming about the house.  I have read a hell of a lot of books over the last month or so.  When I read I can loose a whole day due to falling into a good book.  Jasper Fforde brought out a "children's" book called "The Last Dragonslayer" that I just HAD to read because I love his Thursday Next Books.  It wasn't that great a read actually, but I still managed to finish it in just 3 sittings so it can't be too bad.  He ranted a lot about the way we view animal charities, I think he is another of those "bugs matter" people, which is fine, but you don't need to preach about it in a children's novel.

I have also added to my collection of Tamora Pierce Books, with "Terrier" and "Bloodhound".  I love love love Temora Pierce's books, but they don't publish them in England anymore, well, actually, they do, they just don't stock her older works anymore.  "The Song of the Lioness" Quartet which is my favourite Tamora Pierce book (I've got all four in one big tomb of a book) has been much loved and is falling apart, I desperately want to replace it, but I can't even find it, even on Amazon, which is a HUGE shame.

Still I am chuffed to have "Terrier" and "Bloodhound" on my bookshelf.  I read Terrier in about 2 sittings.  I loved the return of Faithful/Pounce the cat.  The protagonist of the book, Bekah, is a likable character.  She is a familiar lead role that centers in all of Tamora's books.  A stubborn, headstrong girl, who has suffered from neglect or loss from family and who seeks life.  She is a "puppy" (trainee dog) to Tunstall and Goodwin.  These two dogs (guardsmen/policeman) make this book brilliant.  Their portrayal makes you love them instantly.  Thankfully they will feature throughout the trilogy which is great because they make Bekah who she is, a determined dog who will sniff out her rat no matter the cost.  When Bekah is with Tunstall and Goodwin she loves her job so much so she lives sleeps and breaths the criminal cases she is working on, which makes this book fast paced and very interesting.  I would highly recommend it and any/all of Tamora Pierce's other books.

Other books I have read this month:

Multiple Katie Fforde books
Maria V. Snyder's Poison Study, Magic Study and Fire Study
Sophie Kinsella's Twenties Girl

Of course in between all this reading came Christmas and New Years.  Christmas was a small family affair, my brother came up Christmas Eve to stay with us, mum cooked a fab feast and was rewarded with a huge Christmas present from myself, my dad and my brother (a pro table tennis table)

New Years was also a quiet one, one of my uncles came up with his wife and daughters for dinner and games on new years eve and on new years day we went over to our neighbours house for amazing cakes and a festive catch up with all the villagers.

Sadly I didn't get any make up for Christmas so I'm lacking greatly on inspiration, especially since my artwork has taken a front seat as my creativity outlet at the moment, still you never know, tomorrow is another day.

Ta ta for now
